about eaternal bliss

Welcome to Eaternal Bliss.
My name is Rachel, and this is a journey to find joy in the sweet morsels of life.  Life can be crazy and just so, so busy.  But you know that saying, "Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses"?  Well, this is my venture to stop and smell the fresh loaf of bread baking in the oven, or enjoy the warmth found in a hearty bowl of homemade soup, or relish the smiles shared with my sons as we bake cookies together, or appreciate the heartfelt grace said before sharing a meal.

These sweet treasures are worth savoring and giving thanks for.  And that's what I hope to do with Eaternal Bliss.

About the blog:
I'm the cook, recipe tester, photographer, baking junkie, dish washer and writer here.  The three favorite men in my life (hubs and our two sons) are the willing (well, usually) taste testers and occasionally make cameo appearances on the blog.  I can thank my eldest son and pregnancy hormones for giving me the desire to even step in the kitchen.   I was more interested in guitars and indie rock than I was in decorated cookies and homemade bread.  That all changed 7 months into my first pregnancy when I made my first batch of cupcakes for a Mother's Day bake sale at church.  I have not been able to stop myself since.  This blog allows me to share my creations and love for all things food-related.

Some other interesting tidbits:
I worked at Zagat Survey in New York City for almost 5 years.  Unfortunately, I did not get to go out and review the restaurants.  But I did get to enjoy the occasional excellent catered meal (e.g. Nobu, Jean Georges, Il Mulino).  I turned in my guitar for an apron and whisk (long gone are the days of aspiring singer/songwriter).   I own every book written by my favorite fictional author, Haruki Murakami.  But the one book I would not be able to live without is my Bible.  I love popcorn JellyBellies which just about grosses out everyone I know.   My two sons have completely different food preferences (and at such a young age): the older one will only eat his vegetables; the younger will only eat his meat and carbs. I see a lot of food swapping in the future.   The only thing they agree on is dessert. :)

My other home:
You can also find me writing about my journey as a mom at Mother's Mementos.  That's the name you'll find me tweeting.

I love to connect with folks.  It's been one of the wonderful privileges I've had since starting this blog.  If you have comments, questions, or just want to say "hello", send me a note at eaternalbliss@gmail.com.  I'd love to hear from you.
